Belen Florez

Candidate for Providence City Council – Ward 12

About Belen

For more than 40 years, Belen Florez has proudly called Providence home. A dedicated mother, grandmother, hardworking professional, and committed community advocate, Belen's life has been shaped by the values of family, faith, perseverance, and service to others.

Raised by a mother who taught her the importance of compassion, resilience, and helping neighbors in need, Belen learned early on that strong communities are built when people support one another. Those lessons continue to guide her today and have inspired a lifelong commitment to standing up for others and giving back to the community she loves.

Belen has spent decades working hard to provide for her family and build a better future. Through the support of her community, she found opportunities that helped her succeed, and she has never forgotten the importance of giving back. As a longtime employee in the printing industry, she understands the challenges working families face every day, including rising housing costs, public safety concerns, access to quality education, and the need for responsive city services.

As Ward 12 has grown and changed, Belen has become increasingly concerned that too many residents feel unheard when they call for help, report problems, or ask for basic city services. She believes City Hall should work for the people—not the other way around. She believes every resident deserves a voice and a representative who listens, shows up, and fights for the resources and attention their neighborhood deserves.

That is why Belen is running for Providence City Council.

Belen is running as a strong advocate for Ward 12 families and neighborhoods. She believes residents do not need another politician—they need someone willing to fight for safer streets, cleaner neighborhoods, better city services, and a higher quality of life for every family. She is committed to making sure the concerns of residents are heard and that City Hall is responsive and accountable to the people it serves.

Her campaign is focused on creating safer neighborhoods, stronger schools, affordable housing opportunities, and a better quality of life for every resident of Ward 12. She is committed to working alongside families, educators, community organizations, local businesses, and public safety officials to address the challenges facing the neighborhood and build a stronger future together.

Belen believes meaningful progress starts with community engagement and strong leadership. She supports expanding youth programs, increasing opportunities for seniors, improving public transportation, strengthening community policing efforts, and creating more neighborhood-based programs that bring residents together and encourage civic participation.

She is also a strong advocate for affordable housing and has already been working with local leaders to explore solutions that help families remain in the communities they call home. Belen believes longtime residents should not be priced out of their neighborhoods and that the city must do more to support working families.

Above all, Belen Florez is running because she loves Ward 12 and believes in its future. She believes every resident deserves to be heard, every neighborhood deserves respect, and every family deserves someone fighting for them at City Hall. She is committed to being a strong, accessible, and accountable voice for the community and working every day to ensure Ward 12 receives the attention, investment, and representation it deserves.

"This campaign is not about politics. It is about people. It is about making sure every resident has a voice, every neighborhood is respected, and every family has someone fighting for them at City Hall. Together, we can build a safer, cleaner, and stronger Ward 12."

FIGHTING FOR WARD 12 FAMILIES

I'm running for City Council because the people of Ward 12 deserve someone who will fight for them every single day.

For too long, residents have felt unheard when they call for help, report problems, or ask for basic city services. Too many families feel like City Hall isn't listening. That needs to change.

I believe that the government should work for the people—not the other way around.

Residents don't need another politician. They need someone willing to fight for cleaner streets, safer neighborhoods, better city services, and a stronger quality of life for every family in Ward 12.

As your Council Member, I will fight for:

✓ Safer neighborhoods and stronger public safety

✓ Cleaner streets, parks, and public spaces

✓ Reliable city services, including pothole repairs and snow removal

✓ Supporting families, schools, and opportunities for our children

✓ Supporting our seniors and making sure they have the resources, services, and support they need to thrive

✓ Strengthening local small businesses and supporting the neighborhood businesses that create jobs and keep our community vibrant

✓ Addressing homelessness with compassion while protecting the quality of life in our neighborhoods

✓ Being accessible, responsive, and accountable to residents
