Dear Neighbor,

My name is Belen Florez, and I am asking for your support to serve as your next Providence city councilor for Ward 12.

For over forty years, Providence has been my home. It is where I built my life, raised my family, and became deeply invested in the future of our neighborhoods. Like many of you, I have watched our community experience both moments of pride and frustration. I have seen neighbors come together during difficult times, but I have also seen problems persist for far too long. That is why I am running for City Council.

I believe public service begins with listening. Over the years, I have spent countless hours talking with residents, attending community meetings, walking our neighborhoods, and hearing firsthand what matters most to the people who call Ward 12 home. Again and again, I hear the same concerns: families want safe streets, seniors want to age with dignity in the neighborhoods they helped build, parents want better opportunities for their children, and residents want a city government that is responsive, accountable, and focused on solving problems instead of making excuses.

These are not partisan issues. They are neighborhood issues. They deserve practical leadership and a councilor who is present, accessible, and willing to work with anyone to get results.

As your city councilor, my priorities will be clear.I will work to make our neighborhoods safer by supporting effective public safety strategies, strengthening partnerships between residents and first responders, and ensuring every family feels secure where they live.

I will fight for cleaner streets, better maintained parks, and public spaces that reflect the pride we have in our community. Every neighborhood deserves reliable city services that respond quickly when residents need help.

I will continue advocating for our schools, our families, and our children. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe environment and every family deserves a city that invests in the next generation. Strong neighborhoods begin with strong families.

Our seniors deserve more than our gratitude, they deserve our commitment. I will advocate for the resources and services that allow older residents to remain active, healthy, and independent while continuing to contribute to the community they helped build.

I also believe our small businesses are the backbone of Ward 12. They create jobs, strengthen our local economy, and give our neighborhoods their unique character. I will work to reduce unnecessary barriers, support local entrepreneurs, and encourage responsible economic growth that benefits our entire community.

We must address homelessness with both compassion and common sense. Every person deserves dignity and access to the support they need, while every neighborhood deserves clean, safe public spaces. These goals are not mutually exclusive, and I believe we can pursue both through thoughtful leadership and meaningful partnerships.

Most importantly, I believe your city councilor should never be difficult to reach. If elected, I will be visible in our neighborhoods, accessible to residents, and accountable for my decisions. I will listen before I speak, respond when you call, and always remember that I work for you.

I will always put Ward 12 first.

This campaign is about more than one election. It is about building a stronger future for our neighborhoods—one rooted in respect, transparency, collaboration, and service. I am ready to work every day to earn your trust and to represent every resident with honesty, fairness, and determination.
